Michael R. Beckwith

Michael Beckwith is an associate in the Litigation Department and a member of the firm’s Antitrust and False Advertising & Trademark groups.

Michael’s practice focuses on counseling clients across a range of antitrust issues, including litigation, governmental investigations and pre-merger HSR notification compliance. He has represented clients across a range of industries, including technology, health care, agriculture and energy clients.

Michael has also represented clients across a range of commercial disputes, including litigating in state and federal court as well as various commercial arbitration fora. He has handled matters in false advertising disputes, real estate arbitration, SEC investigations, internal company investigations, breach of contract disputes and fiduciary litigation. 

Michael also maintains an active pro bono practice, is a recipient of Proskauer’s Golden Gavel Award for excellence in pro bono work, and is a member of the firm’s Pro Bono Committee. He has represented a former prisoner litigating federal civil rights claims against a correctional facility, drafted amicus briefs in partnership with reproductive rights organizations, assisted asylum seekers applying for refugee status in the United States, and assisted former prisoners with various legal issues they encounter post-release through the Southern District of New York’s RISE Court program. 

Michael earned his J.D. from New York University School of Law and his B.A., cum laude, from Binghamton University. While in law school, Michael was a Human Rights Scholar at the Center for Human Rights and Global Justice, was an International Law and Human Rights Fellow, and served as Managing Editor of the Journal for Legislation and Public Policy.
