Courtland Cuevas is an associate in the Litigation Department. His practice focuses on complex civil and commercial litigation, including antitrust and unfair competition, intellectual property, false advertising, privacy as well as white collar criminal defense and internal investigations. He handles matters across diverse industries such as entertainment, sports, consumer products and agriculture.

Courtland was recently part of the antitrust team that advised Wayne-Sanderson Farms in its acquisition of Harrison Poultry, Inc., a Georgia-based poultry producer recognized for its proprietary “Golden Goodness” line of traditional, international and halal products. The transaction included the transfer of all Harrison Poultry assets and its Bethlehem and Crawfordville operations to Wayne-Sanderson Farms.

As part of his pro bono practice, Courtland has worked with the Innocence Project, where the team successfully opposed the prosecution’s attempt to reopen a criminal matter. In another matter, the team prevailed in an Article 78 proceeding that secured a new parole hearing for the client.

Courtland earned his J.D. from UCLA School of Law and his B.B.A. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where he played on the men’s basketball team that won the Big Ten Championship in 2020.

During law school, he served as a Dialectic Editor of the UCLA Law Review and President of the UCLA Sports Law Association, and he completed legal internships with Creative Artists Agency, UCLA Athletics, and the Los Angeles Lakers.

Before law school, Courtland worked as a producer at ESPN Madison and interned at the NBA League Office. He also served as a law clerk for Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers.
